Be Yourself: Five Ways To Find Your Style

Finding your unique style can help you grow in confidence, adapt to every occasion and be the very best version of you. It can give you a sense of identity, and help you communicate that to the people around you. There are lots of ways to experiment with your own style: whether it’s mixing up that party dress with some new accessories, or wearing your favourite colours. Read on for five ways to find your style, discover your confidence, and be perfectly you!

1. Wear Things That Make You Happy

We all have that favourite dress in our closet that really makes us smile. Sometimes, it’s about how comfortable the outfit is, sometimes it’s the colour and sometimes, it’s just that every time you catch sight of yourself when you’re wearing it, you feel great! Wearing what makes you happy is an important part of discovering your style and finding that inner confidence. You’ll feel a real sense of girl power by wearing things that make you feel good. And remember, it’s about what makes YOU feel good, not your BFF and not some girl in a magazine…

2. Wear The Colours You Love

Wear your favourite colours because you want to, not just because it’s fashionable. Incorporate them into your outfit one day, and your accessories the next. If you like bright colours, wear them as much as you can as they are meant to make you happier. If more muted is your thing, that’s fine too. You can of course still accessorise with a pop of colour if you want. Experiment with different colours, sometimes, moving out of your comfort zone brings some great results. And try things on. Things look so different with a body in them. Sometimes you’ll be surprised by what looks great.

3. Create A Fashion Mood Board

Do you need some fashion inspiration? Create a mood board of all your most-loved fashion icons. Gather ideas from shops, magazines and social media for inspiration for different occasions. Find your top five colours, dresses, and accessories, and see how other people wear them. Think about how you can put your own stamp on each outfit. And a mood board doesn’t have to be physical anymore. Use Pinterest to create a great digital mood board. And if you’d like to design your own outfits, a mood board is a great way to keep track of all your ideas and inspiration.

4.  Change it Up with Accessories

Accessories are the best way to adapt an outfit. You can make a dress more relaxed by adding boots or a great pair of trainers, or glam up a more casual outfit with jewellery to make it more formal. Pair your favourite dress with a new belt to dramatically change how it looks.

5.  Fit is Key

You can wear any style you want. There are no hard and fast rules about what you can or can’t wear regardless of your shape. If it makes you feel good, then go for it but a good fit is important both in terms of how an outfit will look and in terms of making you feel comfortable. It doesn’t matter how much you love something on the hanger or even on someone else, if it’s not comfortable, you will hate wearing it.

And remember…

There is only one you, and you deserve to be celebrated! Happy Styling!
